KINGS OF THE RING is a fictional re-telling of the
1980's Wrestling Wars, written and produced like a gritty cable
TV drama. It was created and produced by people from the
wrestling business to be the definitive series based on
the wrestling industry just like other ensemble cast "workplace
dramas” like the Morning Show, Mad Men, Ballers, Empire,
Mozart in the Jungle, The Sopranos, and many more.
For wrestling fans, it's a visualization and
realization of how different and crazy the 80’s wrestling scene was
compared to today, and for non-wrestling fans, it's a peek into a
world you never knew with all the hallmarks of today’s cable
dramas. It’s a show about political battles, corporate wars,
espionage, and backstabbing. It’s about the people who lived
in this world in a time where living an alter-ego was your
full-time job. It’s about competing philosophies, fathers and
sons, old vs. new, real vs. fake, racism, misogyny, and the sex,
drugs, and muscles lifestyle of the 80’s wrestler.
KINGS OF THE RING was created by and stars Steve Te
Tai, the first Maori (indigenous people of New Zealand)
pro-wrestling “Booker/Writer”, and features family members of
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, in the cast and consultation.
